Gary Parker Rule

Rules are like umbrella spokes. You notice them only when one is missing. Gary Parker Rule is a spoke worth keeping.

At heart, this rule says: decide once, and stop re-deciding. Every fresh decision costs energy and invites excuses. A rule already decided is a friend who has packed your bag while you were arguing.

It is worth keeping in your pocket not because it is always right, but because it is always available. A tool you carry beats a perfect tool you left at home.

Every colony has a notice board and a gossip channel. The notice board informs; the channel decides. Wise residents read the first and audit the second.

Society is a long conversation; the only question is whether you are listening or merely waiting to speak. Print it on a card if you like. Better: print it on a habit.
